About Pro Wrestling X: Uprising

What is Uprising?
Uprising is the debut release of the Pro Wrestling X project. It took a lot of hard work to get this far, and while it might not be perfect, we couldn't be more proud.

Not bad for a work-in-progress
You can call Uprising many things: a playable work-in-progress, a proof of concept, an experimental testing ground. It is not a big finished game – yet. But we'll be updating it for a long time, using the game to test new features and technologies we can put in the next release.
So what's left to do? The list isn't as long as you might think:
Our mission with Uprising
We have two main reasons for releasing Uprising in its current form:
- Our fans have been asking for it! – We have the greatest, most loyal supporters on the planet. It's time we put something in their hands! We'll be updating the game often, and we need your feedback. If a new feature passes muster, it goes into the new game.
- Raise funds to reboot the art and animations – For Uprising, we had to use graphics and animations designed back in 2004. We know we can do better. Redesigning our art and animations is an absolute necessity for the next release.

Planned Updates to Uprising
Uprising will always be a work in progress. We'll use it to test drive new features, experiment, get things ready for our next release. Your feedback to these updates will help shape our next game!
These are just a few of the things we'll be tweaking in Uprising (in no particular order):

More attacks
Not all attacks are enabled in the current build of Uprising. We aim to fix that by adding as many as we can.

Appearance editor
While not a true Create-a-Wrestler feature, we'll be test-driving the mechanics of adding new characters and changing how they look.

Improved rope physics
The rope physics are admittedly a little rough in the current build of Uprising. We need to rework things a bit so the ropes behave like real ones!

Blood!
In the first build of Uprising, bleeding isn't enabled – yet. With a little bit of programming and art mojo, we'll be able to "color" up the game a bit.

High-end video card support
Our graphics engine for Uprising is built to handle low video system specs. Seriously. We want to enable all the cool new shaders now available.

New rendering options
In addition to black & white, toon shading and "old school" on-the-fly rendering modes, we want to enable even more ways to visualize Uprising.

AI improvements
While we won't be building Fire Pro level of computer intelligence – that will come in our next release – we want to experiment with moderate AI tweaks.

Heads-up displays
Some people love 'em; some people hate 'em. Your game, your choice. We want to get HUDs (energy meters, etc.) working just in case you want them.

Camera support
We're experimenting with ways to change camera angles of all the action. If you hate the default camera angle, we want to give you the ability to change it.

More match types
Many match types are just simple rule changes. Iron man matches, first blood, two-out-of-three falls – these can be enabled with a bit of extra programming.

We have all kinds of things up our sleeves. We'll probably think of many more things (got any ideas?). Either way, we'll test 'em out and see how they work.
